At the age of 21 I lost my mother to cancer, she was 48 years old, it was by far the hardest moment of my life when I held my mothers hand and told her it was ok to go. Every minute of every day one more person is taken by cancer.

Please help fight this horrible disease that affects all of us at some point in time by going to StandUp2Cancer.org and making any donation you can make, every little bit counts.

Your donation will go to funding research that will help fight cancer.

I was also 21 yrs when I lost my mother to colon cancer ..she was 49 yrs old.It changed the course of my life. I have beaten this hereditary genetic disease by having a large part of my colon removed upon the discovery that I too had cancer of the bowel.I am sad to say ‘not entirely beaten it’ only to discover through fracturing my ribs and having cracked my femur and hip in a fall that I have multiple myeloma of the bone.So …I smile ruefully and continue to have hope and faith and when I am too fatigued to even put one foot in front of the other I force myself to make-up my face and look pretty and then I feel good and pretty and fresh and step outside to a coffee shop or meet a freind or inspect my beautiful garden ..I feel close to G-d in my garden
and enjoy the colour shapes and sizes of nature…..Marci

Marci – Through your comment you sound very strong and smart. That strength is your beauty. Stay strong and hope for the best. My mother loved to garden, she always told me it made her feel close to god as well. Don’t forget to live every day like you mean it, like it could be your last. Life is entirely too short and precious to not enjoy every moment of it. Sometimes it can be hard, which is when we need to make a smile and STAY STRONG.

Feel free to come back any time, I would love to hear more from you!

My brother in law Javed is 29 years old and was diagnosed with Byphenotypic Myeloid Leukemia four months ago. After two failed inductions, the doctors gave up and said that the disease has become refractory. Since then we have tried many doctors and different medicines. All the doctors had said the same thing, `no hope`. We are presently giving him weekly platelet and blood transfusions and antibiotics to fight infections. Its hard to see this man fighting death each moment as he runs high fever, developed severe chest infection and vomiting everyday. Its heart breaking to see this young man slowly and slowly moving away from us. Our only hope is God as he is our refuge and strength… Javed is looking towards Him with hope and anxiety………..

      Anne,

God bless you, your family, and most of all, your brother in law Javed. You all are in my and my families prayers. Please stay strong, and your faith in God will bring you through this very very hard time in your lives.
